(INDIANAPOLIS) – Nick Boggs has earned honors once again for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference as he was named Athlete of the Week after wins against in matches against a pair of nationally ranked teams. It's the second time this season he's been named as such after first being named the first week of the season back in November.
The 157-lbs. redshirt senior opened the week with a victory over Dylan Taylor of nationally ranked No. 4 Wheeling Jesuit on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Boggs took the decision by an 11-6 count to put the Storm back into the thick of the match they eventually fell in by just two points.
On Friday, Boggs followed up with a sudden victory over Zach Kelly of No. 3 Notre Dame. Individually Boggs entered at No. 11 in his weight, but scored the upset over No. 9 Kelly by a 5-3 decision after a 2-point takedown in overtime.
Boggs and the rest of the Storm now preps for the inaugural G-MAC Championships this weekend. The two-day event will be hosted by Tiffin. All six teams will wrestle each other in duals and the team with the best record of its five matches will be declared the champion.
On Friday, the Storm will square off against Ohio Valley University at 5:30 p.m. followed by a dual with Kentucky Wesleyan at 7:30. Lake Erie will then wrestle in three matches on Saturday starting with Findlay at 10 a.m. Tiffin will follow at noon before the Storm closes with Alderson Broaddus at 2.
