Wrestling Dominant In Final Dual of Season

The Lake Erie College Storm wrestling program earned a win in the final dual meet of the 2019-2020 season with a final score of 38-13.

The Storm started the night with three straight wins beginning at a win by forfeit for Jacob Johnson at 125.

At 133, Jacob Donahue earned a win by fall, extending the Storm lead to 12-0 heading into 141.

Andrew Lieb (141) helped the Storm extend the lead by three team points with a win by a 7-2 decision.

Urbana then took weights 149 and 157, but the Penfold brothers got Lake Erie back on track at weights 165 (James Penfold) and 174 (John Penfold) with back-to-back wins by fall.

Brylan Clouse then won by technical fall at 184.

The final Storm win of the evening came by Storm redshirt junior Christopher Droege, with a win by fall.

"We are happy to cap off a second straight winning dual season and our fifth in our program's short history.", said head coach Jeff Breese.

"It was good to have most of our starters back in the lineup tonight and we were able to get through the dual healthy which is the biggest victory at this point in the season. Tonight was not our best performance, but we told the team that as soon as we hit the bus our focus turns to regionals and sending guys to NCAAs.  The good, bad and ugly from tonight gets left behind."

The Storm will wrap up the regular season this Sunday, Feb. 16 at the John Carroll Open and begin preparation for NCAA regionals at the end of the month.
