Storm Competitive in 1-0 Loss to Ferris State

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Lake Erie College (1-8, 0-6 GLIAC) played a strong defensive match but were denied a result in a 1-0 loss to Ferris State University (4-4-1, 4-1-1 GLIAC) at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium in Painesville, Ohio.

While Ferris State held a 19-3 edge in shots, the Storm limited the quality of chances for the Bulldogs.  They put seven shots on goal, as sophomore goalie Megan Baldacci (Cavecreek, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) made five stops and another credited as a team save.

The first half was devote of strong scoring chances for either team.  Ferris State's only good look came early on set piece off a corner kick.  Sophomore defender Chrissy Poulos (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) made a nice stop on the Bulldogs header attempt.

Coming out of intermission, Ferris State got on the board quickly in the second half with a Bri Borgman header to get on the board in the 48th minute with the assist coming from Stephanie Garland.  Play quickly settled back in with the action occurring primarily between the 20s the rest of the match with neither team mustering another strong scoring look.

The Storm will be making a long road trip next weekend to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to face Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech.
