PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- Freshman Grace Ferut (Medina, Ohio/Medina) scored her second big goal of the season and sophomore Megan Baldacci (Cavecreek, Ariz./Cactus Shadow) made 12 saves but Lake Erie College (1-10, 0-8 GLIAC) fell a goal short, 2-1, on the back end of its Upper Peninsula trip to Michigan Tech University (4-5-1, 2-5-1 GLIAC).
In the first half, Michigan Tech held an 11-2 advantage in shots but Baldacci stopped all five attempts on goal to keep in the game scoreless. All seven corner kicks in the match came during the first 45 minutes with the Huskies attempting five of those.
In the second half, MTU struck first at 60:35 as Alyssa Hynnek scored here second goal of the season after reeling in a pass from Amanda Whiting.
In the 68th minute, Lake Erie set up a great chance to even the score with a free kick. Sophomore Chrissy Poulos (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) took the kick and turned it into her first career point as she found Ferut who headed the boot into the Huskies' net.
In the 76th minute, Michigan Tech took the advantage with the eventual game winner from McKenzie Hengesh off an assist from Katie Boardman.
Pushing forward the Storm was able to get off three more shot attempts but the two on goal were stopped by Huskie goalkeeper Jacqui Landry.
Lake Erie will rest up until Thursday when it takes on Seton Hill University in a 4 p.m. non-conference matchup.
