Storm Fall Short at Walsh

NORTH CANTON, Ohio—The Lake Erie College women's soccer team fell short against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference newcomer Walsh University (5-1-1, 2-1-1 GLIAC) 1-0 on Sunday (Sept. 23) in North Canton, Ohio.

Jessica Gearhart scored the lone goal of the match in the 14th minute of play for the Cavaliers. Taylor Stano and Michaella Stucky combined for three saves in the shutout.

Megan Baldacci (Cavecreek, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) recorded five saves in net for the Storm.  Paige Nemec (Mantua, Ohio/Crestwood), Marlena Lesniowski (London, Ontario/Catholic Central High), and Kaitlyn Holland (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) tallied three shots apiece.

The Storm return to action on Saturday (Sept. 29) at Notre Dame College (Ohio) (2-5, 1-3 GLIAC) in a conference match-up in South Euclid at 2 p.m. The Storm defeated the Falcons in double overtime, 1-0, earlier this season in a nonconference match in Painesville. Senior Valerie Urbanik (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville) scored the game-winning goal in the 101st minute.
