Erie, Pa.-- The Lake Erie College women's soccer team was unable to overcome two first-half Mercyhurst University goals as the Storm fell to the Lakers, 2-0, on Tuesday (Sept. 10).

The Lakers (1-1-1) scored the first goal of game in the 11th minute when Gabrielle Catrabone snuck a shot passed Storm (1-2) goalkeeper Samantha Wiles (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville).  Mercyhurst scored again in the 23rd minute when Lauren Testa put a shot in the top right corner to give the Lakers a 2-0 advantage at the half.

The Storm defense held tough in the second-half as Sarah Stroope (Oxford, Mich./Oxford) did not allow a shot past her in net, making five saves for the Storm.  However, the Meryhurst defense did not budge as goalkeeper Ellie McDougall made five saves for the clean sheet.

Lake Erie continues its six game road trip to start the 2013 season on Saturday (Sept. 14) when it travels to Edinboro University for a non conference matchup.
