Second Half Surge Lifts Edinboro Over Storm

EDINBORO, Pa.-- The Lake Erie College women's soccer team was unable to come away with a victory on the road against nonconference foe Edinboro University on Saturday (Sept. 14), falling to the Fighting Scots 4-0. 

The Fighting Scots (3-1) got on the board early in the first-half when Becca Costello scored in the eight minute to give Edinboro a1-0 advantage. The Storm (1-3) buckled down the remainder of the first-half as goalkeeper Sarah Stroope (Oxford, Mich./Oxford) made seven saves.

Edinboro continued to apply pressure to the Storm defense and broke through in the second-half. Alex Brown netted two goals while Lauralee Clements added one as the Fighting Scots cemented the win.

Meghan Kelly made two saves in net for Edinboro to earn the clean sheet. 

Elizabeth Awuah (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) and Chrissy Poulos (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) had two shots apiece for the Storm.

The Storm return to action next Friday (Sept. 20) to open up Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at Michigan Technological University.
