PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College women's soccer team defeated the Saginaw Valley Cardinals today, 2-1. With the win the Storm improves to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference and with the loss the Cardinals fall to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
The Cardinals opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Ashley Henderson found the back of the net, to make the score 1-0 in favor of the Cardinals. The Storm tied the game with seven minutes remaining in the first half when Elizabeth Roesch (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington Central) scored on a penalty kick, to tie the game 1-1.
The Storm took the lead late in the game when Aleeya Clemons (Olean, NY) scored off of an assist by Roesch, to give the Storm a 2-1 lead. The Storm held the lead and won the game 2-1.
In net for the Storm was Marissa Brannon (Concord, Oh / Lake Catholic) she faced 15 shots, 11 of which were on goal, and made 10 saves, and allowed one goal.
Lake Erie will be back in action when they host Northwood University at 1 P.M. on Sunday (September 27th).
