PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College women's soccer team tied today with Tiffin University, 3-3. With the tie the Storm is 2-9-2 overall and 1-6-2 in the conference and with the tie the Dragons are 2-8-2 overall and 0-7-1 in conference play.
Tiffin struck first with a goal in the 6th minute of the game when Svetlana Gudenkova scored off of a corner kick taken by Allie McCabe, to make the score 1-0 in favor of Tiffin. The Storm responded with two minutes remaining in the first half when Aleeya Clemons (Olean, NY. / Olean) finished off a breakaway goal, to tie the game at a goal apiece.
The Dragons regained the lead when Gudenkova scored her second goal of the game off of an assist by Adrianna Currie, to make the score 2-1 in favor of Tiffin. The Dragons added another goal when Valerie Brown scored off of a corner kick by McCabe, to give Tiffin a 3-1 advantage. The Storm cut into the lead with 30 minutes remaining in the half when Elizabeth Roesch (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington Central) scored an unassisted goal, to make the score 3-2 in favor of Tiffin. Lake Erie scored off of a corner kick when Ashley Pryce (Stow, Ohio / Stow Munroe Falls) found the back of the net off of an assist by Ashley Mundey (Beavercreek, Oh / Beavercreek), to tie the game at three goals apiece.
The game went to overtime, but neither team was able to score and the game ended in a 3-3 draw.
In net for the Storm was Marissa Brannon (Concord, Ohio / Lake Catholic) she faced 14 shots, eight of which were on goal, made five saves, and allowed three goals.
Lake Erie will be back in action Sunday (October18th) when they travel to take on Ashland at 1 P.M.
