PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College women's soccer team was victorious today over Findlay, 2-1. With the win the Storm improves to 4-11-2 overall and 2-8-2 in the conference and with the loss the Oilers fall to 1-12-3 overall and 0-9-2 in conference play.
The first half was a scoreless battle in which both teams had opportunities to score. The Storm and the Oilers each had five shots, and the Storm had three shots on frame.
The Oilers took a 1-0 in the second half when Marissa Swindell scored an unassisted goal. Less than a minute later the Storm responded when Marlena Lesniowski (London, Ontario / Catholic Central High) found the back of the net off of an assist by Aleeya Clemons (Olean, NY / Olean), to tie the game at a goal apiece. Lesniowski scored her second goal of the game with 3 minutes remaining and gave the Storm a 2-1 advantage. The Storm held on to win the match 2-1.
In net for the Storm was Marissa Brannon (Concord, Oh / Lake Catholic) she faced eight shot, four of which were on goal, made three saves and allowed one goal.
Lake Erie will wrap up their 2015 campaign Tuesday (October 27th) when they travel to take on Mercyhurst at 3:30 P.M.
