PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College women's soccer team will open the 2017 regular season with the home opener on Monday (Sept. 5) against the Eagles of Ashland University.
Storm Report: The Storm are coming off a 2016 campaign in which they went 7-10 overall. The Storm is returning their leading scorer from 2016. Ashley Pryce (Stow, Ohio / Stow Munroe Falls) led the Storm with five goals scored and two assists. After seven years in the GLIAC, Lake Erie is now competing in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC).
Preseason Polls: Lake Erie was voted to finish tenth of 12 teams in the 2017 Great Midwest Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll presented by Under Armour. The Storm earned 51 points, including a first place vote.
Opposition Position: Ashland comes to Painesville with a 0-1-1 record after two home games. The Eagles fell to Quincy 2-0 on Saturday (Sept. 2).
Series History: Lake Erie has yet to defeat Ashland in a matchup as Ashland holds a 9-0-1 advantage over the Storm. Lake Erie fell on the road 2-0 to the Eagles last season.
Storm Forecast: The Storm will open GMAC play on Wednesday (Sept. 6) with a road matchup at Ursuline.
