PAINESVILLE, Ohio – Aubree Petrinec, a ten year old local of Painesville, was diagnosed with Connective Tissue Disorder in 2017. Her dream of playing college soccer was made yesterday as she signed her National Letter of Intent and welcomed onto the Lake Erie College Storm Women's Soccer team. Through Team IMPACT's program at Lake Erie College, Petrinec has attended every practice, home game, team dinner, and any other team activities this past season.
Team IMPACT is a national nonprofit headquartered in Boston whose mission is to improve the quality of life for youth facing serious and chronic illnesses through the power of team.
Aubree's presence had as much of an impact on Storm women's soccer as they had on her. "Aubree brings a really positive force to our team. She's always smiling at practice and she is always just in a good mood," said sophomore midfielder Leah Pollifrone. "Even when we had a loss, she was there to pick us up. We're so happy to have her on our team and she's a really important asset to us. We're just excited to see the season go on with her now on our team."
Petrinec's signing kicks off National Signing Week, as Storm Athletics will be announcing more recruits on National Signing Day, which will take place tomorrow.
