PAINESVILLE, Ohio (October 5, 2008) - Lake Erie College was victorious in two of its three games on the road in West Virginia this weekend, defeating Ohio Valley and West Liberty State.
On Friday, the Storm beat Ohio Valley in five games (25-13, 27-29, 25-11, 23-25, 15-11). The green and white recorded season game highs with 115 digs and nine blocks. Junior Erica Muniak (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) totaled 13 kills and 20 digs to pace the Storm. Fellow junior Katie Yanesh (Wickliffe, Ohio/NDCL) had 10 kills and 20 digs. Senior Tiffany Farner (West Salem, Ohio/Northwestern) had nine kills, three solo blocks and five block assists.
Against West Liberty State, Lake Erie won in three games (25-22, 28-26, 25-21). Farner led the team with 11 kills, while Yanesh totaled a team-high 17 digs. Freshman Lauren Bogatay (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) had 21 assists and freshman Krista O'Connor (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) served up three aces.
In the team's final game of the weekend, the Storm lost to Wheeling Jesuit (25-16, 25-17, 25-12). Team leaders included Muniak with five kills, Bogatay with 11 digs and seven assists, Yanesh with 11 digs and Farner with two solo blocks and three block assists.
Lake Erie (4-11) hosts Northwestern on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
