Volleyball Falls To Mount Vernon Nazarene in Straight Sets

The Lake Erie College volleyball team fell in a three-set match to Mount Vernon Nazarene by a count of 25-21, 25-19, 25-12.

"Despite the loss, I was pleased with the way we played," said Head Coach Brian Coughlin, who suffered a defeat in his first match at the helm of the Storm.  "We were up 19-15 in the first set and that's when the match changed.  Still, the ladies gave great effort and I was told by several people that it was a 180 degree change from last year."

Lake Erie's hitters had a strong first set with 10 kills to just four errors but the hitting percentage went down in each of the three games.  Sophomore middle hitter Kristin Swann (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester) led the Storm with six kills, a career-high.

Senior Krista O'Connor (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) was the team's top distributor 14 assists while junior libero Paige Baldauf (Marion, Ohio/Marion Pleasant) tallied 18 digs.

The Storm has a week layoff, and return to action Friday, September 9 for their home opener against the University of Findlay.
