PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Lake Erie College (2-12) never surrendered in a tight match against Malone University (18-7), falling in four sets on the road in Canton, Ohio.
The Storm fell by a count of 25-20, 23-25, 25-15, 25-14.
Lake Erie was led by junior Mary Walter (Solon, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) with an impressive 15 kills. Set her up for most of those was senior Krista O'Connor (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) with 25 assists. Freshman Samantha Knepley (Munith, Mich./Stockbridge) also played a nice match for the Storm.
"I was pleased with the way the girls were excited going into and throughout this match," said Head Coach Brian Coughlin. "They played with the energy we need to win matches going forward."
The Storm continues road action this weekend as they play three matches in Aurora, Ill. as part of the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover.
