Storm Takes First Set But Slips Up Vs. ODU

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Lake Erie College (3-21, 1-16 GLIAC) came out strong with a first set win but Ohio Dominican University (12-15, 5-12 GLIAC) rallied to take the match in four sets at the Jerome T. Osborne Family and Athletic and Wellness Center.

The Storm took the first set, 25-17, before falling in the next three 25-18, 25-16, 25-16.

Lake Erie's efforts began with one of its best passing games of the season, led by junior Rachael Ritt (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) with a season-high 13 digs.  Senior Krista O' Connor (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) had 17 assists with sophomores Kristin Swann (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester) and Molly Richardson (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) with seven and six kills, respectively.

The first set saw an impressive effort from Swann as she had five kills in the set.  Swann served out the set for Lake Erie after her own kill gave her serve.

After the second set started, 2-2, the Panthers ran off 10 straight points.  Lake Erie fought back into the set, getting as close as 19-15 but the Green and White ran out of gas as the set came to a close.

The third and fourth sets both stayed competitive but ODU led most of the way.

The Storm continues their final weekend of the season tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. home match.
