MIDLAND, Mich,-- The Lake Erie College volleyball team won the opening set but was unable to overcome Northwood University, falling three sets to one Friday (Sept. 26) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic (GLIAC) play.
After dropping the opening set to the Storm 25-22, the Timberwolves won the following three sets 25-17, 25-19 and 25-21.
Madison Russell (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville South) led the Storm with 10 kills on the night, including four in the opening set. Asya Hobbs (Lynwood, Ill./Bishop Noll) recorded nine kills to go with her team-high 11 digs. Mikaela Lengal (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick/Ashland) and Sara Aultz (Wooster, Ohio/Orrville) combined for nine kills. Kathryn Ferry (Lima, Ohio/Lima Central Catholic) and Sidney Fletcher had nine digs apiece while Graesyn Engler (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) had four. Samantha Knepley (Munith, Mich./Stockbridge) had six digs to go with her 16 assists while Mallory Gustincic (Medina, Ohio/Medina) had 13 assists.
The Storm is back in action Saturday (Sept. 27) when they continue their Michigan trip against Lake Superior State University.
