Storm Volleyball Announces 2015 Recruiting Class

PAINESVILLE, Ohio-- The Lake Erie College volleyball team announced its 2015 recruiting class, the first under rookie Head Coach Kevin Foeman, Thursday (June 18).

"We cannot say enough about the class we are bringing in next year," said Foeman.  "All are very different and from all over and can impact this program immediately. We are looking forward to getting our team back and having these six players join them in August for what we hope to be a strong pre-season to kickstart 2015."

Below is a breakdown of the Storm's newcomers:

Leondra "Lee Lee" Barrett l 6'2 ½" l MB

Transfer from Missouri State University West Plains… standout Middle Blocker for Ooltewah High School in Ooltewah, Tennessee, earning multiple All-State and Region MVP honors… tallied 726 kills and 226 blocks in her prep career.

Coach Foeman's Comments: "We are extremely excited to be bringing in Lee Lee for next year. She gives us immediate help in the middle position that we really need moving into next year. Lee Lee will bring a great deal of length and tenacity to our team as an elite attacker and blocker. She came to a tryout earlier and was extremely coachable and quickly adapted to what we are trying to do with our middles, and we feel she could have a huge impact to our season this year. She has a high ceiling and a great vertical, but most importantly a passion for learning the game."

Crystal Kedroske l 5'10" l OH/RS

Attended Dexter High School in Michigan where she was a two-time All Conference player and made the All-Region Team last year… played for Huron Valley Volleyball Club, where her club team finished third at Nationals… currently competes at Legacy Volleyball club, one of the premier clubs in the Region, and won three straight club tournaments this summer… Ann Arbor News for the 2015 Young Citizen of the Year Award.

Coach Foeman's Comments: "We are very excited to be bringing in Crystal for next year. She has the ability to play all three front row positions at a high level, and has a great feel for the game. She has had the opportunity to compete at a great club and under great coaches, and we feel she will adjust well to what we are trying to do as a program. We love both Crystal's athleticism and passion for the game, and feel she will be a great teammate and player."

Brittany Levkulich l 5"8 l OH/M

From nearby Perry High School where she was a standout six rotation player for the Pirates… runner up MVP of the Chagrin Valley Conference… Four year Varsity starter, three year captain and three year team MVP… in her senior year she tallied 3.7 Kps and was named a Third-Team News Herald All Star.

Coach Foeman's Comments: "Brittany is a versatile player who will be able to provide an immediate spark to our team. She can play all three front row positions and could provide a help in the back row with her ability to serve receive and defend. We are very lucky to be adding Brittany to our team for next year, and are excited to see how much she will impact us both on the court and off."

Courtney Stedman l 5'11 l Setter/ Right Side

Coach Foeman's Comments: "Courtney is an exceptional athlete with great hands and good size. She hit right side and set with great success at the Club and high school level, but has the ability to set a 5-1 with her height and great blocking ability. She impressed us the minute we watched her set one ball, and didn't stop impressing the more we watched her. We are excited to be bringing in a player of her caliber for next year, as she will immediately make our team better."

Alexis Thomas l 5'7" l Setter

Coach Foeman's Comments: "We are very lucky to be adding Alexis to our team for next year. She is a smart setter with very strong hands who can push the ball to both pins with ease and sets with a calm demeanor needed at this level. Alexis will improve our level of play immediately and will provide much needed depth and competition at the setters position. She comes from a great club, NKYVC, where she was able to compete alongside and against many high level players which will allow her a smooth transition to the level of play seen in the GLIAC."

Gabby Woods l 5'10 l OH/RS

Standout at Lorain County Community College where she starred as both a volleyball and basketball player… in volleyball, she helped lead her team to the National Championship where they finished the year as the National Runner Up… named All-Tournament Team, All-American and hit .292 and tallied 409 kills for the 2014 season.

Coach Foeman's Comments: "Gabby is an experienced player who was vital in her teams run to the National Championship game last year. She is a smart hitter, as seen by her high hitting percentage, and can hit with power if needed. We immediately liked her when she came to campus, and feel she will bring a much needed winning mentality and seasoning with her next year. She will vie for a spot on the right side, but can play outside if needed. She is the type of competitor we need at Lake Erie for next year and moving forward."
