Storm Volleyball Adds Two to 2016 Recruiting Class

PAINESVILLE, Ohio—The Lake Erie College volleyball team announced the addition of two student-athletes to their 2016 recruiting class Tuesday (April 26).

Jessie Eastman and Jess McPeek will join early signees Morgan Briggs, Brooke Peiffer, Lexi Lombardo, Shannon Holsinger and Hailey Nielsen to make up the 2016 Storm volleyball recruiting class.

"I am very excited to welcome Jessie Eastman and Jess McPeek to our already talented class of 2016," said Storm Head Coach Kevin Foeman. "Our goal was to bring in a strong athletic group of blue collar, hard-working athletes who are willing to put in the necessary work to improve each day on and off the court.  All seven of these girls are extremely respectful individuals who competed and played in talent rich volleyball areas and for top of the line club programs. We are excited to welcome these athletes to the Storm Volleyball Family."

Below is the breakdown of the new members of the Storm volleyball team.

Jessie Eastman

Why did you choose Lake Erie?

"I chose Lake Erie College because right away everyone was so welcoming, the coaches, the team and the staff. After one practice with the team I could tell that it was a team I wanted to be a part of. I liked the direction the coaches are taking this team and I want to be apart of the future at Lake Erie College."

Jessie plans to study accounting while at Lake Erie College.

Coach Comments: Having come from a talent rich volleyball area and years of training with a premier club, she will be able to give us much needed depth and experience in the front row. We are very excited to welcome Jessie to the Storm volleyball family. She fits in with our team both on and off the court, and possesses the athleticism needed to transition to the college level.

Jess McPeek

Madison, Ohio/Madison

Jess McPeek comes from nearby Madison Ohio where she was a standout player for four years. She was the defensive MVP her senior year, a four-year letterman, All-Conference Award WRC, First-Team All-District, PAC First-Team, and Perry Volleyball Invitational All-Tournament team. She was invited to play in the Ohio All-Star Game and was a Second-Team News-Herald All Star. She was also a captain for 2 years and holds the school record for most aces in a game and recorded 990 digs in her career.

Why did you choose Lake Erie?

"I knew I wanted to be apart of the Lake Erie College community from the minute I stepped on campus. Everyone was very welcoming and I immediately felt comfortable. The LEC volleyball team is full of genuine, hardworking girls and I am so excited to be a part of such an amazing team."

As of right now she plans to major in education.

Coach Comments: Jess is another addition to our 2016 class that will give us much needed athleticism and depth in needed areas on the court. She comes in with a strong desire to improve and help out our program on and off the court. She is a very impressive defensive player with a high motor in the backrow. We are excited to add both of these players to our class, and know they will be big additions to the future of Storm Volleyball.
