Storm Takes Streak Into Busy Weekend (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College volleyball team takes their five match winning streak into a busy weekend. Lake Erie will kick off the GLIAC and home schedule with a matchup with Walsh University on Friday (Sept. 16). On Saturday (Sept. 17), the Storm will compete at the Notre Dame/Ursuline Volleyball Tournament. Lake Erie will have matchups up with Davis & Elkins and Ursuline at Ursuline College.

Storm Report: The Storm extended their win streak to five matches with a thrilling, five set victory on the road at Alderson-Broaddus on Tuesday (Sept. 13). Lake Erie fought for a 3-2 (28-26, 19-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-13) victory over the Battlers, with the Storm fighting back from down 2-1.

GLIAC Honorable Mention: For the second straight week, outside hitter Brooke Peiffer (Lansing, Mich. /Holt) was named to the GLIAC Honorable Mention list for week 2. In the Storm's four wins, Peiffer totaled 47 kills, 3 service aces, 39 digs and had a .241 hitting percentage.

Series History: Lake Erie and Walsh have faced off five times since 2009 with Walsh winning all five matchups. Davis & Elkins holds a 3-0 advantage in the series with the Storm while Lake Erie and Ursuline have split the two matchups.

Opposition Position: Walsh enters GLIAC play with a 3-4 overall record in 2016. Davis & Elkins brings a 2-7 record to South Euclid for the tournament. One of the tournament hosts, Ursuline are 7-2 on the year.

Storm Forecast: Next week, the Storm will travel to Michigan for two GLIAC matchups with Northwood and Hillsdale.
