PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College volleyball team will host two Great Midwest opponents this weekend at the Osborne Center. The Storm will face the University of Findlay Oilers on Friday (Oct. 6) at 7:00 PM and the Hillsdale College Chargers on Saturday (Oct. 7) at 1:00 PM.
Storm Report: Lake Erie begins the weekend with a 12-5 overall record and a 6-2 G-MAC record. The Storm fell 3-1 at Malone in their last game. Lake Erie is fourth in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference with a .225 hitting percentage. As a team, the Storm average 13.15 kills per set, good for third best in the conference. Bethany Fisher (Orrville, Ohio / Dalton) is 2nd in the conference with 236 kills and third with an average of 3.93 kills per set. Sidney Fletcher has the second most digs with 236 and the fourth best average of digs per set with 4.77.
Opposition Position: Findlay is 15-1 overall and 8-0 in Great Midwest matches. The Oilers jumped into the 25th ranking in Division II after a 3-0 win over Alderson Broaddus last week. Hillsdale travels to Ohio with a 13-3 record (6-2 G-MAC) after a 3-0 victory over the Battlers in their last contest. Hillsdale will face Ursuline before facing the Storm.
Series History: Lake Erie defeated Findlay twice last season, including in the GLIAC Quarterfinals for the Storm's first playoff win. Lake Erie is winless in the series with Hillsdale.
Storm Forecast: The Storm will host Roberts Wesleyan and Notre Dame College in a doubleheader on Tuesday, October 17th.
