PAINESVILLE, Ohio- After hosting a pair of non-conference matches at home on Tuesday (Oct. 17), the Lake Erie College volleyball team will resume Great Midwest play with a pair of road games this weekend.
The Storm will face the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers on Friday (Oct. 20) and the Trevecca Nazarene University Trojans on Saturday (Oct. 21).
Storm Report: Lake Erie is 17-7 overall and 7-3 in the conference this season. The Storm picked up two 3-0 wins on Tuesday over Roberts Wesleyan and Notre Dame College at home. Bethany Fisher (Orrville, Ohio / Dalton) was named East Division Player of the Week on Monday for the second time this season by the conference. Fisher piled up 53 kills in three matches, including 23 against the Greyhounds of Indianapolis. She also assisted on nine blocks for the Storm.
Opposition Position: Kentucky Wesleyan enters the weekend with a 9-14 overall record and a 5-5 G-MAC record. The Panthers dropped three matches at the 2017 Midwest Region Crossover last weekend against Ashland, Quincy, and William Jewell. Trevecca has a 4-16 overall record and a 1-9 conference record. The Trojans fell 3-1 to Christian Brothers in their last match.
Series History: As a member of the GLIAC, Lake Erie faced off with Kentucky Wesleyan at the Midwest Region Crossover four times. The Panthers won all four matchups at the Crossover. This will be the first meeting between the Storm and the Trojans on the court.
Storm Forecast: Lake Erie will continue play within the Great Midwest schedule with road games at Davis & Elkins, Ohio Valley and Alderson Broaddus next week.
