PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College women's volleyball team will begin the 2017 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship on Thursday (Nov. 16) afternoon at Hillsdale College.
The Storm will play Kentucky Wesleyan in one of four quarterfinals at 2:30 PM.
Storm Report: Lake Erie ended the regular season with a 25-8 overall record, the most wins since the Storm joined Division II. The Storm clinched the G-MAC East Division title with a 15-3 conference record. Lake Erie finished the regular season with three straight wins and 11 of the last 12 matches. The Storm ranks third in the conference with a team hitting percentage of .224. As a team, the Storm leads the conference with 1,496 assists, 1,583 kills, and 2,042 digs overall. Bethany Fisher (Orrville, Ohio / Dalton) leads the G-MAC with 429 total kills while Sidney Fletcher (Saline, Mich. / Saline) holds the G-MAC lead with 48 service aces and 569 digs.
Opposition Position: Kentucky Wesleyan enters the tournament with a 14-18 overall record and a 9-8 record in the G-MAC West. The Panthers won their last two matches against Cedarville and Ohio Dominican.
Series History: The Storm and the Panthers have met five times on the court. The Storm defeated the Panthers in straight sets earlier this year. Brooke Peiffer (Lansing, Mich. / Holt) and Fisher led the Storm with eight kills in the match.
Storm Forecast: The winner of the Lake Erie-Kentucky Wesleyan matchup will face the winner of the quarterfinal between Findlay and Malone on Friday (Nov. 17).
