NORTH CANTON, Ohio
The Lake Erie College volleyball team traveled to Walsh University to play the Cavaliers in a Great Midwest matchup this evening. Walsh volleyball is currently in second place in the G-MAC, and prior to tonight's match the Cavs have a conference record of 4-0 and an overall record of 11-6, while the Storm is currently slated seventh with a G-MAC record of 2-3 and an overall record of 8-15, prior to tonight's contest.
The Storm fell 22-25 for the first and second sets of the match against the Cavs, opening the match with a hitting percentage of .108, their lowest of the night, and gained momentum throughout the match. The Storm took the third set of the match with a set score of 25-23, before falling with a final set score of 18-25.
Freshman Taylor Metzler led the Storm offensively with 11 kills and a hitting percentage of .242. Metzler also was targeted 30 times for receptions and had nine digs. Alexandria Becerra was apart of 61 total attempts and was credited with 23 assists. Senior Hallie Zumack was credited with 12 assists. Moe Briggs held the defense down, recording 17 digs against a hard-hitting Cavalier offense.
With the win, Walsh remains undefeated in G-MAC play, with a conference record of 5-0, and an overall record of 12-6. The loss puts the Storm at 2-4, with an overall record of 6-16. The Storm heads to Malone tomorrow for another G-MAC matchup at 1 pm.
