Cross Country Prepped for Ric Sayre Invitational

PAINESVILLE, Ohio-- The Lake Erie men and women's cross country teams will open the 2014 season on Saturday (September 6) at the Ric Sayre Invitational on the campus of Walsh University. 

Matt Reneker takes over the Storm cross country team after spending three years as an assistant at Malone University. Reneker graduated from Walsh in 1999. 

On the men's side, several key runners return from last season, including sophomores Jacob Godec (Eastlake, Ohio/North), Conor Gordon (Burke, N.Y./Franklin Academy), Dalton Graham (Gomer, Ohio/Columbus Grove), Vincent Horning (Stow, Ohio/Stow) and junior David Thorne (Mentor, Ohio/Lake Catholic).  Last season, Graham earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors.  The men add five freshmen to the 2014 team.

On the women's side, junior Melanie Forget (Shanty Bay, Ont./Eastview Secondary) and sophomore Emily Kotfis (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) return to the Storm.  Five new members will join the women's team this fall.

The women's race will start at 10:00 AM and the men's race will begin at 10:30 AM on Saturday.
