PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Lake Erie College cross country team was in action today as they competed at the Pittsburgh Invite.
Gina Henley (Akron, New York / Akron) led the women's team as she was the first member of the Storm to break the tape, with a time of 20:31.0 minutes. Catherine Beisel (Geneva, Ohio / Geneva) finished shortly after her teammate, as she crossed the line in a time of 21:34.9 minutes.
The men's team was led by Xavier Kibet as he finished with a time of 28:36.2 minutes. George Lesnak (Mantua, Ohio / Crestwood) was less than a minute behind his teammate as he crossed the line in a time of 29:15.0 minutes.
Interim Head Coach Matt Stuck said "This was a good showing for both of our teams. We ran well on a pretty undulating course here in Pittsburgh. Considering we haven't put in too much hill work and this was a week with a heavy workload. I am really proud of our team bringing in a good attitude and running well at the end of a hard week. We have the conference meet in a couple of weeks and I'm confident that we will have another good showing in Nashville".
Lake Erie will be back in action Saturday (Oct. 21) when they travel to Trevecca Nazarene to compete in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships.
